The Irishman
The Irishman is one of Martin Scorsese’s longest films at 3 1/2 hours long, despite that the film is a masterpiece for all who enjoy mobster movies. Scorsese brings all the best mobster tropes and capitalizes on them. Netflix synopsis: “In the 1950s, truck driver Frank Sheeran gets involved with Russell Bufalino and his Pennsylvania crime family. As Sheeran climbs the ranks to become a top hit man, he also goes to work for Jimmy Hoffa — a powerful Teamster tied to organized crime”.
EL Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie
Continuing after the infamous Breaking Bad series, El Camino follows Jesse Pinkman as he escapes from captivity. Thanks to his partner Walter White, Jesse escapes and runs from the law, his captors as well as his past. Although, many fans thought it’d be hard to match the level the show was on after such a long break. However, it did just enough to keep it from ruining the legacy of a great show.
The King
A medieval film covering the story of King Henry V and his rise to power. From the acting to the awesome battle shots, the film does a good job to capture the history of King Henry V’s reign. Extraction
Extraction is an intense, action packed film starring Chris Hemsworth as he faces his way through Bangladesh and the criminal underworld. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible”.
Spencer Confidential
Starring Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke in this funny action filled movie, Spencer Confidential gives viewers a crazy ride to strap into. While the plot isn’t anything to rave about, it’s still an enjoyable cliché film in the end. Netflix synopsis: “To unravel a twisted murder conspiracy, a former police detective returns to Boston’s criminal underworld”.
Project Power
Project Power featuring Jamie Fox and Joseph Gordon-Levy is a thrilling ride, filled with drama and crazy action sequences. Jamie and Joseph do a great job as leads, even with the plot being fast paced and jumbled. If you’re not looking for anything with much depth then this movie’s it. Netflix synopsis: “A former soldier teams up with a cop to find the source behind a dangerous pill that provides temporary, unpredictable superpowers”.
The Devil All the Time
One of the only good Netflix original horror films to come in the past few years, The Devil All the Time. A star studded cast that includes Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Bill Skarsgard, Haley Bennett and many more. In this story it follows a group of disparate characters in this post-world war 2 setting in southern Ohio. Netflix synopsis: “A young man devoted to protecting his loved ones must face off against corruption and sinister characters in a postwar backwoods town”.
The Guilty
Up next we got The Guilty, a crime thriller film starring the great Jake Gyllenhaal as our lead. As a new 911 operator, the situations that Jake’s character has to go through are amazing. It does a great job in keeping you on your toes, as well as wondering what to expect. Netflix Synopsis: “A troubled police detective demoted to 911 operator duty scrambles to save a distressed caller during a harrowing day of revelations — and reckonings”.
Army of the Dead
Zack Snyder returned to the film industry with a bang, this time bringing an army of the dead to his side. Being led by Dave Bautista, the story revolves around a group of mercenaries who prepare for a grand heist. Although they have a plan, they’re unaware of the challenges that awaits them. Netflix Synopsis: “After a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble and venture into the quarantine zone in hopes of pulling off an impossible heist”.
Red Notice
Finally, one of Netflix’s biggest original films Red Notice, is a must watch for all. Having stars like Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds was already a good sign. However, seeing the three of them working together was even better. The chemistry between Dwayne and Ryan was pure comic relief throughout the film. Along with Gal Gadot who helped bring in more dynamics.
Spiderhead
A Sci-fi/Thriller film starring Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller. The movie does a great job at leading the viewer through a mysterious, yet thrilling journey. Chris Hemsworth’s character pits inmates into these strange experiments, without knowing the true consequences. Getting to watch these characters get their morals tested will leave you hooked till the end.
Hustle
Adam Sandler makes his debut in Hustle, a more serious film than his past work. This sport/drama takes Adam Sandler’s character through a tough road. As an unlucky NBA scout, he must find his way back into the leagues spotlight. Additionally, the film does a great job at almost convincing you its a true story. Definitely a must watch for all who love a good redemption story.
The Gray Man
Starring Ryan gosling and Chris Evans, The Gray Man brings in every action trope you can think of. The Gray Man’s an epic cliché of a film, one that may leave you wanting more or less depending on the type of cliché you enjoy. Netflix synopsis: “When a shadowy CIA agent uncovers damning agency secrets, he’s hunted across the globe by a sociopathic rogue operative who’s put a bounty on his head”.
Day Shift
Vampire hunting in LA sounds like the best profession, especially if you’re hunting with Snoop Dogg. Day Shift features Jamie Fox as he works on supporting his daughter through a pool-cleaning job as a front, while his vampire hunting gets him the real dough. There isn’t anything special about the plot, as it stays fairly simple throughout the film. This along with some cool action scenes make for a well worth watch.
