10. Splatoon 3
Splatoon is making its return this September 9th with a number of new features that include new weapons (26 new weapons for players to use in fact), as well as new characters and color ways this time. Gameplay stays mostly the same apart from the addition of new techniques and abilities.
9. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is on its way this October 20th bringing back the wild collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft. Original gameplay from past games has been done away for this sequel bringing a more of a strategy adventure trigger style like Pokémon. These recent trailers have given more info to the playable characters as well as the main plot for the game.
8. Overwatch 2
Overwatch is back for another run this October 4th, with new modes and maps as well as 3 new heroes, with only one left to be revealed so far. However, it will only be available in PVP at launch for free, while PVE has yet to be announced though we can be sure to see it sometime in 2023.
7. Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed
Ghostbusters makes its return this October 18. Bringing with it a 4v1 multiplayer style that has been used by Illfonic for their past projects, Friday the 13th and the predator game. However, if you wish to play alone the game automatically assigns AI to fill in the roll of the other players. Ghostbusters will also have cross-play across all platforms.
6. Gotham Knights
Gotham Knights by WB Montréal is a new and separate batman game from the Arkham universe. Play solo or with a group of friends online as your favorite bat family characters in a world after batman’s death, making sure the streets of Gotham stay safe with unique combat styles and gear that you can acquire throughout the game for each character.
As a fellow die hard fan to the Arkham games I’m glad to see a different take in the gameplay style with these characters, While some may hate the new direction already you can’t ever know for sure till after release. Gotham Knights launches this October 21st Exclusively on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
5. Call of duty: Modern Warfare II
Modern Warfare makes its return this October 28. As a sequel to the reboot of the 2019 Call of duty title, it brings new maps and mechanics to enhance the players gameplay, as well as the original modern warfare 2 maps being added sometime after launch ( Year 2 maybe).
The modern warfare reboot series started off very good with its first installment back in 2019, I actually enjoyed it in its entirety as it brought back everything that made call of duty great back then. This sequel seems to be heading in the same direction brining back our favorite characters in a whole new story.
4. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Pokemon is back yet again with a new titles this time in scarlet and violet. Set in the Paldea region Pokemon brings back its open world game style from Arceus and expands on it further. The legendary Pokemon in the game will also have different unique mount types based on the terrain making exploration even easier than before. Scarlet and Violet will release this November 18 on the switch.
3. Evil West
Evil west is a new IP developed from Flying wild hog bringing cowboys against the supernatural like vamps, werewolves and demons alike. Set in a old west universe you play as Jesse Rentier fighting off the Sanguisuge monsters in order to keep humanity safe in the new world. Evil west releases this November 22.
2. The Callisto Protocol
The Callisto Protocol is a new survival sci-fi horror game coming to all platforms. With co-director Glen Schofield from the deadspace franchise joining the team behind the new IP, the game brings back that nostalgic deadspace horror feel and third-person gameplay with a redefined look and take on the genre. 1. God of War: Ragnarok
Now finally for the most awaited game this year, god of war reinvented itself in its last game making for a fresh new take on the gameplay as well as the character of kratos. God of war Ragnarok follows the story from the last game after a time skip of a few years we see Atreus more grown and confident seeing as his giant blood is starting to show more.
In Ragnarok we will be able to visit all nine of the realms in Norse mythology after adding the final three we didn’t get to see in the last game Vanaheim, Svartalfheim and Asgard. Meeting multiple significant characters along the way Kratos and Atreus journey to find answers and decide between their fate or the realms.
